Data We Collect
SeaTemp is a static, read-only marine reference site. We do not require accounts, and we do not ask you to submit personal information. Ocean, weather, and forecast data shown on beach pages is retrieved from the Open-Meteo marine and forecast APIs at request time.
Location Features
The "Nearest Beach" widget can estimate your position in two ways: an approximate IP-based lookup via a third-party geolocation service, or — only if you press "Use Precise GPS" — your browser's Geolocation API. Coordinates are processed in your browser to compute distances against our public beach catalogue and are never stored on our servers.
Local Storage
Your preferred temperature unit (°C/°F) and display theme are saved in your browser's local storage under the keys seatemp_unit and seatemp_theme. This data never leaves your device and can be cleared at any time through your browser settings.
Third-Party Services
Pages load the Plus Jakarta Sans typeface from Google Fonts and marine data from Open-Meteo. Interactive maps are embedded from OpenStreetMap. These providers may receive your IP address as part of any standard web request; their own privacy policies govern that processing.
